Welcome to Torrens Valley Orchards. Established in 1985, I moved into the
Apple Orchard Business after completing my Bachelor of Economics and Accounting.
As a sixth generation Horticulturalist, I started experimenting with plantings
of Nashi Pears or sometimes known as the Asian Pear, in 1986.
In
1987, I visited the Tatura Research Centre in Victoria, to inspect trial work
with Nashi Pears, a chance look at their trial plantings of Cherries looked
very promising.
We now dominate the Nashi market in South Australia and the Northern Territory,
but it is the Cherry Industry that shows the most promise, particularly in
the Export area.
We currently export into Asia, Great Britain and the Middle East.
